  • Solarus Makes Your Home Smarter

    Solarus Home Monitoring

In March, Solarus launched HomeMonitoring, which is the latest in Solarus' full line-up of services designed to give the customer control and make life easier.

Solarus HomeMonitoring is an affordable system offering you control of your home from the palm of your hand with any smart mobile device or Internet connection. The service provides protection, home automation and energy-saving abilities.

HomeMonitoring joins MediaShower in Solarus’ large list of the most technologically advanced services in the area.

“We are delivering the products to make your home a smart home,” said Doug Wenzlaff, CEO and General Manager of Solarus. “With each product we bring to our customers we are striving to simplify your life and put you in control.”

Want to turn up the heat in your house on your way home from work or check in with your latchkey kids as they are getting off of the bus? There’s an app for that and it is brought to you by Solarus.

“Solarus HomeMonitoring can simplify your life,” said Patrick Bloczynski, a network engineer at Solarus. He is the project developer of the new service and has been using the products in his own home for several months. Control your thermostat remotely. Lock and unlock your doors from your smartphone to let a repair man in while you are gone. Watch the live feed from a camera to see when your children enter the house or leave after school.

“This service provides protection, home automation and energy-saving abilities.”

If you missed our first class – Using the Remote – here are some of the tips from that class:

    Solarus Remote Control

-If your buttons are not working, or you are getting a blue screen be sure you press the STB button (located on top left side of remote). STB stands for Set Top Box. The box is what controls your cable service.

-Use the Video On Demand button on the left side of the remote to access an expansive library of free and paid content such as children’s programming, newly released movies (many even in HD) and training videos on using MediaShower.

-Use the red Record button on the left side of your remote to record a program or series. The Recorded TV button on the right side of the remote will take you to your recording menu where you can watch programs you have recorded and schedule future recordings.

-Press the Exit to TV button on the left side of the remote to get out of any menu, guide, recorded show or time-shifted program. This will take you to live TV.

-The three colored buttons are shortcuts to the following items:
-Yellow triangle – Search for programs by title, actor, topic.

-Blue square – Access your “Favorites” – this is helpful so you do not have to scroll through the entire guide to find your favorite channels or remember the channel number.

-Red circle – Access your caller ID log.
