To aid in the identification of spam messages and how to handle them, we have installed a Self-Learning Artificial Intelligence Engine to accompany MailHelper’s. You may control several aspects of this Engine: including enabling or disabling the Engine, setting the Engine to “forget” all its learned since its protection of your e-mail, whether you wish the Engine to “learn” addresses you wish for it to ignore and lastly, if you wish the Engine to automatically delete spam messages with a “spam score” higher than your filter level.
Using the methods below will allow you to control all of these features.

If you see the following screen while you are attempting to log into MailHelper, you have either mistyped your password or you do not actually have an account on the server.
MailHelper does not scan e-mails for viruses. This is completed by a scan performed before a message even reaches MailHelper to be scanned for spam. An e-mail containing a virus would not even reach MailHelper if it was infected with a virus and caught by our viral detection process.
While this is technically possible, it is very unlikely as any e-mails containing viruses are automatically deleted before even reaching MailHelper to avoid the risk of possible infection from interaction with e-mails containing viruses.
MailHelper is a mail filter which attempts to identify spam using a variety of mechanisms including text analysis, artificial intelligence filtering, DNS block-lists and collaborative filtering databases.
As explained above, MailHelper does not scan e-mails for viruses due to that being handled by a seperate scanning process which occurs before a message even reaches MailHelper.
If valid e-mails are being caught by MailHelper, you may allow these in one of three ways. You may deliver the message to your Inbox, add the sender’s e-mail address (or domain) to your Approved Senders List, or lower your MailHelper spam filter level until these e-mails no longer are caught and quarantined.
If you continue having problems with certain e-mails being caught in MailHelper, please contact our Technical Assistance Center at 1-888-676-8638.
If you find that MailHelper is not catching all spam coming to your Inbox, you may help catch these e-mails in the future in several ways. You may add the sender’s e-mail address (or domain) to your Blocked Senders List, raise your spam filter level, or (if accessing your e-mail through Webmail) add the e-mail to your Spam folder.
If you continue receiving spam messages in your Inbox, please contact our Technical Assistance Center at 1-888-676-8638.
These steps are outlined in the Using MailHelper section of this help file.

If you are asked to log in again suddenly after reading a quarantined e-mail or remaining on a screen in MailHelper for a period of time, it means your session has timed out and you will have to log in again. The length of time a session can be inactive before timing out is set to 10 minutes by default. However, you may increase (or decrease) this time by following the steps outlined in the Advanced Settings section.
The Self-Learning Artificial Intelligence Engine is integrated into MailHelper, learning through various conditions such as an e-mail’s spam score, approval of messages quarantined in MailHelper, and blocking of messages that arrive in your Inbox and are moved to your Spam folder through Webmail.
Though the Self-Learning Artificial Intelligence Engine will work without manually teaching or training it, the Engine is most effective when “taught” what to consider genuine e-mail vs. spam. For more information on teaching the Self-Learning Artificial Intelligence Engine, please see that area of this F.A.Q. in the mailhelper Advanced Settings.
The steps to enable/disable the Self-Learning Artificial Intelligence Engine are found in the MailHelper Advanced Settings area of this help file.
Yes. By default, whenever you approve the sender of a message in MailHelper, or when you deliver a message in MailHelper to your Inbox, the traits of that message are then learned as genuine e-mail and will be used by the Artificial Intelligence Engine when it encounters an e-mail with similar traits in the future to decide if the message is spam or not. If you move messages into the Spam folder found in Webmail, the traits of that message are learned as spam. Lastly, based on an e-mail’s spam score, the Self-Learning Artificial Intelligence Engine will learn certain e-mail’s traits as spam or genuine e-mail.
If you have additional questions not covered in the steps outlined, please contact our Technical Assistance Center at 1-888-676-8638.
A spam score is a value given to an e-mail based upon the e-mail’s traits (such as subject, body of message and the sender’s address). MailHelper’s Self-Learning Artificial Intelligence Engine gives these values to each e-mail that is sent to your e-mail address. Based on that value, the Self-Learning Artificial Intelligence Engine then determines if the message is spam or not. For example, if a message has a spam score of 12 or greater, it is considered spam. A message with a score of 0.1 or lower is considered genuine e-mail and not blocked.
